This engine utilizes Volvo Advanced Combustion Technology (V-ACT) and a high-pressure common rail fuel injection system to ensure optimal performance and fuel economy. Typically Turbocharged and Air-to-Air Intercooled, the D7E produces a power output ranging from 125 kW to 228 kW (168 hp to 305 hp) at a rated speed of 1800–2200 RPM, depending on the specific application configuration. It delivers substantial low-end torque, peaking at approximately 1050 Nm at 1350 RPM, and is compliant with Tier 3 / Stage IIIA emission standards.
