The Caterpillar C9 is a heavy-duty inline 6-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine engineered for demanding industrial and earthmoving applications. It features a displacement of 8.8 Liters (537 cu in) with a bore of 112 mm (4.41 in) and a stroke of 149 mm (5.87 in). Renowned for its reliability, the C9 typically utilizes the HEUI™ (Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injection) fuel system or ACERT™ technology to ensure precise fuel delivery and combustion efficiency. The engine is generally Turbocharged Aftercooled (TA), delivering a power output ranging from 205 kW to 280 kW (275 hp to 375 hp) at a rated speed of 1800–2200 RPM. It maintains a high compression ratio of 16.1:1 and is designed to meet applicable Tier 3 and Stage IIIA emission standards.
