The Caterpillar C18 is a high-displacement inline 6-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine engineered for heavy-duty industrial performance. It features a substantial displacement of 18.1 Liters (1,106 cu in) with a large bore of 145 mm (5.71 in) and a stroke of 183 mm (7.2 in). The engine utilizes the advanced ACERT™ Technology with a Mechanical Electronic Unit Injection (MEUI) system to optimize combustion and efficiency. Depending on the specific configuration, aspiration is either Turbocharged Aftercooled (TA) or Twin Turbocharged Aftercooled (TTA). It delivers a broad power range from 429 kW to 597 kW (575 hp to 800 hp) at a rated speed of 1800–2100 RPM. Known for its exceptional lugging capability, the C18 produces peak torque up to approximately 3,710 Nm (2,736 lb-ft) at 1300 RPM.
